Luca Primon
He was born in 1952 in Trento, a town in the heart of the Dolomiti Mountains.
He grew up with a love for wood-working in the workshop of his family, all skilled furniture makers for generations. After having studied celle and double bass for a certain period, he entered the violin making school at the "A. Boito" Conservatory in Parma, and studied under the guidance of Maestro Renato Scrollavezza.
He completed his studies in 1980 and was immediately invited to teach at the Civic Violin Making School in Milan, where he still teaches the construction of musical instruments of the violin family.
Luca continually seeks to broadern his violins making knowledge by attending the specialisation courses taught by Maestro Jurgen von Stietencron, and by taking part in seminars, workshop, exhibitions and other lutherie related events all overe the world.
His work continues in the Italian violin making tradition, following the rules of an art handed down from Maestro to pupil during the centuries. Constant commitment to his craft and the search for the finest quality wood -which he then perfectly seasons- ensure thet his instruments have a powerful sound, and a warm , rich timber which allows the contemporary musician to express himself fully.
He also pays careful attention to the aesthetics of his instruments, passionately curing every detail of the workmanship and of the varnish. He considers violins, violas and cellos as work of art to be appreciated by musicians, collectors, and violin making enthusiasts.
